Jan Oystein Aksnes, her parents, May Britt Aksnes and Jan Oystein Aksnes, encouraged their daughter to learn music as a passion rather as a career. She started writing her own songs. As well as Bjork as well, she mentions Leonard Cohen as an influence. The singer decided to perform her music in public when her mother said they might help others not be famous with her work but to make those around them see the importance of their work and how they can affect the world. The piano was first played by her when she was just six and was writing her first song when she was nine. It was unknown to her family until she was fourteen. Aurora never dreamed of being a famous singer. The only thing she loves is writing music. She claims that music is her favorite way to feel anything.
